Glossary of Zen Litmus

Zen Litmus:

Creative Calibration through comfort art. A series of simple, no-skills-required creative activities that will activate the play instinct using, color, texture, and shape. All of us need a little nudge into a peace-filled liminal space in order to let go of life’s everyday to-do’s and to reconnect with our joyful selves.

Comfort art:

No-skills-required art making, such as doodling, spin art, paint pouring, the list goes on and on. When I’m in my studio and just need an activity to help me shift into an open mindset, comfort art activities are what I do in order to open up, shake the cobwebs, and shift into a flow state of mind.

Catalyst:

In science, a catalyst is something that is added to bring about a change. In Zen Litmus art making, the catalyst is you. The joy when you play with art supplies has a bubbly outcome.

Pocket Panaceas:

A colorful place to capture haikus, sketches, and doodles from your everyday. These little homemade books are the size of a matchbook and fit right into the palm of your hand and/or your pocket so that you may take them anywhere and use them anytime. Open it up and it sparks a smile! (Classes to take: Spin Art; Doodle & Assembly Class)

Derangements:

This collage-bouquet is a simple way to dial in your smile as you add, subtract or rearrange the colorful elements that you’ve concocted with friends. Having a Derangement nearby is a sure way to supply a quick mental boost. (Classes to take: Spin Art; Paint Pour; Doodle & Assembly Class)

Inklings:

A hug on a stick! Much like a flower, these bright peek-a-boo’s are a boost for you or someone you cherish. (Class to take: Spin Art)
